Bar codes, camera phones and shopping - a look into the future?

Interesting article on how camera phones with the ability to read bar codes may reshape shopping: Wired News: Camera Phones Help Buyers Beware
Just one quote: “with a camera phone that is also a bar-code scanner, you can go into a store like Barnes & Noble, take a photo of the ISBN number on a book and instantly receive a coupon offering the book for 30 percent less at Amazon.com”
If they make this work with a usable service, this could connect offline shopping to online marketing (pricing, promotion, etc), and be as revolutionary as consumer review and comparison sites. I am looking forward to seeing this develop.
